Venezuela is amidst is a violent protest and has caused Four people to lose their lives. This protest has also caused hundreds of more to be injured. The Venezuelan’s Opposition activists are attempting to haul aid supplies through government blockades and into the country.
President Maduro has scrambled his troops to the affected areas. They have been using tear gas at people to disperse the crowd. There have also been reports that 13 members of President Nicolas Maduro’s security forces have abandoned their posts.
In response to the protests and government actions, the opposition leader Juan Guaido has made a statement, “Today’s events force me to make a decision: To formally propose to the International Community that we must have all options open to secure the freedom of our country, which fights and will keep fighting.”
President Maduro is facing serious backlash, as he is being charged with fraudulently conducting and winning the 2018 Venezuelan election. Therefore is being urged by the International Community to step down. In a recent tweet made by president Trump, he said: “The citizens of Venezuela have suffered for too long at the hands of the illegitimate Maduro regime.” All the while recognizing Opposition Leader Juan Guaido as the country’s legitimate leader.
