People of Southern Peru woke up to an earthquake at around 3:50 a.m. on Friday. People of Northern Peru were also slightly felt the tremor. According to the US Geological Survey the earthquake was recorded 7.0 on the Richter Magnitude Scale.
Reports about the earthquake are still coming in but According to Officials the epicentre of the earthquake was 27 kilometres northeast Azangaro, near the Bolivian border. The epicentre of the earthquake was also at the depth of 257 kilometre which is highly unusual because most earthquakes in South America occur at the height of 70 kilometres.
Emergency services have been called to affected area and citizens are volunteering to help.
