Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, The infamous Indian Fighter Pilot who shot down Pakistan’s F-16 and was captured has returned to India. He crossed the Wagah-Attari Border and entered India at around 9:00 pm IST.
Yesterday Pakistan’s Prime Minister made an announcement saying, “In our desire of peace, I announce that tomorrow, and as a first step to open negotiations, Pakistan will be releasing the Indian Air Force officer in our custody.” Pakistani Authorities have returned Abhinandan Varthaman via a joint check Post at Wagah-Attari Border.
Some would call it an “unprecedented move” from Pakistan’s PM. This decision came in light of the recent escalating tensions between India And Pakistan after the Pulwama Terrorist attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. And in a bid to take out several terrorist camps in Pakistan the Indian Air Force conducted an Air Strike on Tuesday. And this prompted Pakistan to retaliate.
On Wednesday Multiple Pakistani F-16 tried to infiltrate the Line of Control prompting the IAF to react and intercept one of the F-16s. But thwarting the other aircrafts Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman crossed the LOC and his plane was shot down. He was later captured and interrogated by Pakistani Authorities.
