This has also affected Pokemon Go as most users have connected their Facebook account to the popular AR game.
The Game Developer for Pokemon Go, Niantic has made a statement confirming that the Facebook outage is responsible for users not being able to login into their account. They have advised people to use an alternative login method to login into Pokemon Go.
If you currently log into Pokémon GO or Ingress using Facebook, this login method is currently unavailable. We’re closely monitoring this issue and will provide an update. In the meantime, you can still access both games via alternate login methods. Thanks for your patience.

Facebook has also confirmed this issue as one of the spokesperson for Facebook told Reuters, “We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps,” and added, “We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
The Reason for this outage could be that Facebook and Messenger are on the same network and Facebook owns Instagram too.
Therefore the problem that may have affected Facebook and messenger might also have trickled down to Instagram as well. There are no reports of Whatsapp, another Facebook-owned messaging being affected.
This is shocking news to everyone as in this day and age nobody could even imagine what it would be like to not be connected to the internet or not being able to go online.
