Update – 49 Dead, Dozens Injured in New Zealand Mosque Shooting
Christchurch, New Zealand: On Friday at around afternoon Police were responding to an active shooter call after shooting at two mosques in the city and open fire.
Police have not released any description on the suspect. They also have not released the number of casualties or injured in the attack.
Earlier reports suggest that 6 people are dead along with 50 injured. But this number is likely to rise based on the nature of the attack that has occurred.
Bangladesh Cricket Team were also present at the scene of the incident but they are reportedly safe. Bangladesh Cricket Board spokesman Jalal Yunus in a statement said, “They are safe. But they are mentally shocked. We have asked the team to stay confined in the hotel,”

According to the police, the suspect is still at large and are asking the public to stay away from the suspect as he is armed and considered extremely dangerous.
Len Peneha, an eye witness said he saw a man dressed in black enter the Masjid Al Noor mosque and after a few minutes, he heard the sound of gunfire.
Police Commissioner Mike Bush has made a statement saying, “A serious and evolving situation is occurring in Christchurch with an active shooter, Police are responding with its full capability to manage the situation, but the risk environment remains extremely high, Police recommend that residents across Christchurch remain off the streets and indoors until further notice. Christchurch schools will be locked down until further notice.”
“He also thanked the people of Christchurch “for their cooperation.”
Authorities have said that they “will provide further updates to keep residents informed.”
