A Brexit supporter who attacked Jeremy Corbyn with an egg has been sentenced to 28 days imprisonment. John Murphy (Brexit supporter) attacked Jeremy when he came to visit the mosque earlier this month, by throwing an egg towards the labor leader he yells “respect the vote”.
The attack on Corbyn came a week after their party announced that they would support a second referendum on Brexit.
Jeremy had left the room to wash after he realized that he had been struck by an egg. Murphy pleaded guilty to an assault by beating charge.
When the labor leader Corbyn asked about the incident he replied that he was ” shocked and surprised ” and also he said that now he will be more cautious and will continue to interact with people.
Chief magistrate warned Murphy before sentencing him for imprisonment that ” attack like this is an attack on our democratic process also adding to this she said he is a public servant and attacks on MPs must be stopped”. After this, concerns have been raised as the attacks on politicians have been heightened.
