1 Dead in Truck Explosion on Arkansas Route 278 near Camden

One person is confirmed dead after a truck carrying ammonium nitrate exploded on Highway 278 near Camden on Wednesday, Arkansas Department of Emergency Management reported.

The Ouachita County Sheriff’s Office has corned off all the area near Highway 278 and area between Highway 57 to 376.

They have set up a 1-mile perimeter and HazMat crews are on the scene to assess the damage from the explosion.

Witnesses report that the intensity of the explosion was so strong that it was felt  60-mile away from the accident site.
