Mozambique : Cholera Cases 139 due to Cyclone IDAI

Mozambique is facing a worst humanitarian disaster as after the huge cyclone idai hits, Now the cholera cases have risen to 139. As per officials, there is no confirmed cholera death yet in medical centers however two people died outside hospitals with symptoms of dehydration and diarrhea.

Aid agencies rushed to the region to control the spread of disease among other survivors of natural disaster. Many badly affected areas in Mozambique are still inaccessible by road complicating relief efforts and aggravating the threat of infection.

However Mozambican environment minister Correia said that “we expected this and we were prepared for this” also adding to it he said, “we have doctors in place”.

Earlier this month Mozambique had faced a huge catastrophic disaster as the cyclone Idai hits the southern African region, Nearly 700 peoples lost lives across three countries, where 417 lost lives and 1500 injuries were from Mozambique.

However, no disease outbreak has been reported so far but aid agencies have raised an alarm due to safe drinking water and sanitation.

The country is in serious tension and needs everybody’s prayers.
