For all those who ship Oliver and Felicity, the time has come; to let go of “Olicity”! The S.T.A.R lab’s resident tech genius, Felicity Smoak won’t be sticking around in the team Arrow for much longer.
Due to the sheer force of her likeability and the interesting chemistry she had with Green Arrow, Oliver Queen (played by Stephen Amell), Emily Bett Rickards took the character Felicity from being a quirky background player in the first season to being a core member of the Arrow cast.
Rickards took to Instagram to announce her upcoming departure from the team Arrow as Felicity, probably at some point before next year’s eighth (and final) season. While it doesn’t say specifically why she is leaving the show, it does say that her run is ending with the seventh season. But this might not be such a shock to Arrow fanatics as the show has been foreshadowing an upcoming exit for Smoak. The current season has been showing leaps into the future, with Felicity raising her daughter in secret outside of the Star City (which has turned into a bigger dump that it has been for the past seven years) after supposedly giving up the game.so to avoid breaking the timeline, Felicity will have to go away at some point before someone figures out she’s pregnant. This also means that she won’t die (well, in the contemporary timeline of the show at least).
The timing of her post implies her exit will be soon but however, the whole Arrow gang will be gone in a short time as the show’s final season will have a shorter episode order span.
So what do you think? Would Smoak departure do some good to the Green Arrow or would he go into the depths of depression?
