A female US sailor was wounded in a “domestic” shooting at 6:45 a.m. in the Naval Air Station Oceana base parking lot in Virginia Beach which apparently has a “no weapons” policy.
The shooter was a male US sailor. He was fatally shot by the Navy Air Station security personnel who immediately responded to the shooting said the officials.
Naval Air Station Oceana in a tweet explained about the situation and informed the people at the base about the incident. “NAS Oceana is currently in lockdown due to a security incident. This is not a drill,” NAS Oceana said in their tweet.

They later provided further details saying the NAS Oceana is under lockdown due to an “Active Shooter incident” however the shooter was contained at that point.

They say the female sailor was taken to the Virginia Beach General Hospital, reportedly with multiple gunshot wounds that aren’t enough to become life-threatening.
The station, the Navy’s master jet base for fighters on the East Coast, was locked down for a time, but officials say normal base operations have resumed.
Officials say the shooting is under investigation. No other details were immediately available.
