Update: Suspect in Custody, Texas DPS Trooper Shooting in Edinburg
Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the suspect involved in the shooting of one of their trooper at the 1500 block of south Maltese Street north of Freddy Gonzalez in Edinburg on Saturday Morning.
Victor Alejandro Godinez, 24, is believed to be the suspect who shot Texas DPS trooper.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking information of the whereabouts of the suspect involved in the shooting at the 1500 block of south Maltese Street north of Freddy Gonzalez.
The suspect is Victor Alejandro Godinez, 24, of Edinburg.

The incident occurred at around 8:45 a.m. when a Texas DPS trooper approached a car crash. according to the statement, “At some point after making contact with the suspect, the trooper was shot. The trooper has been transported to a local hospital.”
The suspect then fled on foot and is believed to be still in the area.
Authorities have not made the identity of the trooper public.
