Update: Suspect in Custody, Texas DPS Trooper Shooting in Edinburg
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, one of their troopers was shot near North 10th Street and Freddy Gonzalez in Hidalgo County on Saturday morning.
Texas DPS has advised people to stay away from the area as the suspect is still at large and in the area.

A Preliminary investigation revealed that the trooper approached a car crash at around 8:45 p.m. The statement read, βAt some point after making contact with the suspect, the trooper was shot. The trooper has been transported to a local hospital.β
After shooting the trooper the suspect fled on foot. Acc. to Texas DPS official twitter the trooper is still in surgery.

Authorities have not revealed the identity of the trooper nor they have made any statement of the condition the trooper is in.
Authorities have asked people living in the area to be cautious and reports anyone suspicious to the police.
