One man died after a San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit, BART train fatally struck a person at El Cerrito del Norte Station on Monday morning.
We’re currently responding to preliminary word of a person hit by a train at the El Cerrito del Norte Station. No word on person’s condition. Station temporarily closed. Will provide updates.

The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. when Warm Springs bound train at El Cerrito del Norte Station struck a person. Initially, the condition of the made was not clear. This resulted in the station to be closed down.
However, SFBART announced at around 8:40 a.m that the man that was struck by their train has died.

SFBART had also announced that Richmond station was also being closed down because of this incident.
But later they announced that they are reopening Richmond Station and “Trains will run through El Cerrito del Norte via single tracking.”
Trains will run through El Cerrito del Norte via single tracking so we can reestablish service to Richmond Station. El Cerrito del Norte Station remains closed.

Autirotes have not made the cause of the accident clear however investigators are on the scene and are trying to determine whether it was due to a human error or not.
