The CW’s Arrow will be ending with an upcoming eighth season remaining its ultimate season. Season seven is currently being aired. The current season is coming to an end and the countdown for season finale has already begun.
Arrow is a television series based on the DC Comics character ‘Green Arrow‘. The series premiered in the US on October 10, 2012. Since then, it is broadcasted on the CW television network.
Arrow follows billionaire playboy Oliver Queen. He finally returns home to his mother and sister after five years of being stranded on a hostile island. He becomes a bow and arrow-wielding vigilante in order to save the world against supervillains.
The series is developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg.
The report for Arrow’s end first came when Stephen Amell approached executive producer Greg Berlanti expressing his desire to leave the series following the seventh season. Amell wanted to pursue other projects. But somehow, Berlanti convinced him to stay till the eighth season. Maybe to give a nice farewell to the character.
Arrow has already received a half series order for its final season. It consists of ten episodes and is scheduled to premiere this fall. To be more precise, it is expected to premiere in October following the previous trend. In this way, the series might conclude by December end.
It should be noted that most of the other seasons comprise of 23 episodes. A shorter season means the showrunners don’t want to waste any time at all.
Talking about the cast, most of them are expected to return. The main cast will include Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary, Colton Haynes as Arsenal, Katie Cassidy as Black Siren and Sea Shimooka as Emiko Queen. Although, two characters Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Mister Terrific (Echo Kellum) are not expected to return in the final season.
There is an annual crossover between other CW Superheroes like Supergirl, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow every year. An early end by the December suggests that one final crossover television event is planned for Arrow. The next Arrowverse crossover will be titled “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” It was revealed in this season’s crossover event.
The title suggests that the upcoming crossover will be inspired by the comic book story of the same name. In the book, the DC Multiverse got combined into a single Earth. It saw a war between the omnipotent Monitor and Anti-Monitor from the Antimatter Universe.
Current season’s crossover “Elseworlds” saw Flash and Supergirl both risking their life.
Green Arrow was shown helpless as he made a bargain with the Monitor to save both of his friends’ lives. The deal that Oliver made with Monitor was not revealed in the episode which is driving the excitement to the next level.
As the Arrow’s fate remains uncertain given the deal he made with Monitor, his journey will be ending with the final crossover episode ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths.’ But, this will not be the last fans see of Stephen Amell as Arrow. He will be shown in various flashbacks and flash-forwards that various Arrowverse series commonly uses.
Episode 20 of Season 7 will be airing on 29 April 2019. It will be titled ‘Confessions’. Season seven will have 22 episodes.
