Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still a mystery to us. Among the new movies in Phase 4, we can expect the introduction of The Eternals.
Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios President, hinted in April 2018 in an interview with The Wrap that Marvel is discussing the future of The Eternals in MCU. “Eternals is one of many many many things that we are actively beginning to have creative discussions about to see if we believe in them enough to put them on a slate.” As a result, we are getting an upcoming Marvel movie on The Eternals.
WHO ARE THE ETERNALS AND THEIR ORIGIN?
Five Million years ago, the Celestials came to Earth and performed genetic experiments on Proto-Humanity. This lead to the creation of two divergent races: The Eternals and The Deviants.
The Eternals are immune to aging and diseases. Since they can be killed, they are not fully immortal. They have extraordinary superpowers. Due to the cosmic energy that suffuses an Eternal’s body, they have an impeccable control over their physiological processes. Most of them cannot be harmed by convention weaponry or poisoned. Even if are harmed, they have the ability to regenerate making them invulnerable in many aspects.
Some of the superhumans abilities possessed by them are super strength, flight, levitation, mind control, teleportation, transmutation, Forcefield generation.
One of their remarkable ability is to form a Uni-mind. A Uni-mind is a collective being which is created by a significant number of Eternals. All of their abilities are combined in this Uni-mind.
RELEASE DATE OF THE ETERNALS:
No release date has been announced by the MCU for The Eternals. It can be released anywhere between 2020 and 2021. Rumors claim that we can expect the movie on November 6, 2020.
CAST AND CREW DETAILS:
Dong-Seok Ma is confirmed to be a part of this movie. Although we are not sure which part he is going to play.
Rumors have it that Angelina Jolie is going to play the role of Sersi in The Eternals. Kumail Nanjiani, star of Silicon Valley, The Big Sick, and The Twilight Zone, is also in the frame.
Choe Zhao is going to be directing the Eternals produced by Kevin Feige.
The Eternals which we are to see in the movie are Eros/Starfox, Piper, Elysius, Gilgamesh, Ikaris, Sersi, Makkari, Thena and Zuras, with Druig as the villain.
PLOT DETAILS:
The timeline of the movie is supposedly set “millions of years ago”. This suggests we might get a dive into the battle between the Deviants and the Eternals. The story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.
INTRODUCTION/APPEARANCE OF THE ETERNALS IN MCU:
The only eternal we have seen on screen is Thanos. Yes, Thanos!! The one person most of us hate carries the Deviant gene which explains his nefarious actions and his appearance.
The Celestials were mentioned in the Guardians of the Galaxy. The Celestial we know of is Ego, Star-lord a.k.a. Peter Quill’s father.
