‘Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age’ has arrived on Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. It is the same remastered version of the game that hit the PS4 two years ago in 2017. It also came to Steam last year. This is the first time the fantasy role-playing game has been available on a portable system.
Earlier, Final Fantasy 12 and X landed on Switch previous month.
FFXII was a game well ahead of its time. Fourteen years ago, the game introduced features like real-time combat and sprawling open-world gameplay. This game evolved the ever-changing role-playing series.
Previously FFXII was a PlayStation 4 exclusive, this brought dismay to the gamers who have other consoles. The company looked into this matter and launched the game on Xbox One. Moreover, adding to the delight, it supports 60 frames per second on the console.
Game Setting and Basic Story-line
Final Fantasy XII is set in the world of Ivalice during a war period. The kingdom of Dalmasca is left in ruin and darkness when the Archadian Empire captures it. The only heir to the throne living is Princess Aishe. She dedicates herself to free her country. Vaan is a street urchin who lost his family in the war. In a fight for liberation, players join these extraordinary allies as their companions. They begin a valiant adventure to liberate their homeland and restore it back to prosperity.
Final Fantasy XII is considered a cult classic. It has an excellent story and stellar gameplay. It is the eighth-best-selling PlayStation 2 video game with 6 million copies sold. It garnered stellar review scores in 2006. Moreover, the game is enjoyed even to this day.
What’s new in the latest version of Final Fantasy 12?
Now, players have the option to swap between the classic soundtrack and a re-recorded one. A trial mode has been incorporated which would test the player’s skills. Additionally, there are few more added features which would enhance the overall playthrough. Some of them are listed below:
- A License Reset Function has been added: Players can now reset and change their party member’s jobs by talking to Clan Centurio’s leader Montblanc in Rabanastre. This will allow them to customize the jobs of their party according to their choice.
- New Gambit Sets has been added: Players can now create three unique sets using Gambit. This will allow players to switch between sets for different situations.
- ‘New Game+’ is now updated: This will allow users to start the game with party members at level 90. They will also be able to carry over some items like weapons, magic and Gil obtained during previous play.
- Xbox One X exclusives: Now, Xbox One will support up to 60fps. This will enhance graphics and make the gameplay smoother.
