“After Life” is one of the superfast web series on Netflix with only 6 episodes in its first season. The trailer was launched on 22nd February 2019 and the show premiered on 8th of March 2019.
The story mainly revolves around Tony, Tony’s wife Lisa dies unexpectedly due to breast cancer, After her death, the main story of the web series begins when Tony decides to take revenge from the world for his wife’s death by doing whatever he likes and he did not care about anyone not even himself.
“After Life” is written and directed by Ricky Gervais and he is known for his comedy and humor. But this web series is having an emotional gut-punch.In the first episode, it shows the character of Tony and the story of his wife.Tony goes through a very difficult phase after his wife left him, he even thought of suicide.This show also gives a good laughter but the emotional aspects and drama is really painful to watch.
After Life was a pleasant surprise from Gervais. David Bradley played the role of his father, many fans of Gervais cried at the final episode of him with his father. His father was a mental patient since he has dementia and lives in a nursing home.
The first season was having only 6 episodes with 30 minutes each and it was really a fast since all of the of episodes were premiered on 8th March. The show has received a mixed review with 6.29 out of 10 on rotten tomatoes.
Netflix had also renewed the series for its second season.
