Metro Exodus came bundled with a sealed mystery vault of goodies in its season pass. Lately, 4A Engine revealed what the box actually contains. Two expansions are forthcoming, the first expansion will offer a more classic linear Metro story. Whereas the second one will add another open-world sandbox zone to explore. Moreover, both cases will put you in the shoes of new characters.
The first expansion is called The Two Colonels and it will be out this summer. The second one is called Sam’s Story and it is expected to launch in early 2020.
The first expansion AKA The Two Colonels will follow the story of a character named Colonel Khlebnikov. Yes, the same character which is briefly mentioned in the main game. Gameplay will be linear and filled with tense adventure similar to that of the first two Metro games.
Players will be directed into the dying city of Novosibirsk. This will be based a year before the events of the main game. Khlebnikov wants to reunite with his son for New Year’s Eve. He has to probe into some dark environment, hopefully, he carries a flame-thrower to clear the way. The area might possess atomic spiders to make things difficult.
The second expansion is an ambitious project. Sam’s Story will follow the story of a former US marine, turned high ranking Ranger. The main mission will be to search a way so that he can go back to America. This will lead him to the port city of Vladivostok. The city is destroyed and decayed quite similar to one of the main acts of the original game.
Metro Exodus is currently available on the Epic Games Store at a discounted price of $34.99.
