Since the last eight years, everyone loved and dedicated so much of their time watching the phenomenal story and fantasy drama that a TV platform has ever provided. Similarly, when the Finale Season aired on April 14, 2019, many fans had lots of expectations that the finale would be something out of the world.
But surprisingly and unfortunately, this didn’t happen. Lots I mean many saw their expectation go down in flames like Daenerys burned down Iron Fleet. So, what went awry and what stuff did fans didn’t like?
So, Jon Snow didn’t take the throne. Was Jon arc of not taking throne justifiable? Definitely not. Game of Thrones tried to divert the story that everyone expected. Jon’s wounding of Daenerys in the decimated honored position room of the Red Keep is actually the sort of story twist that Game of Thrones wanted its viewers to witness. But this self-contradicting completion of the great story didn’t go well for the fans. The killing of Daenerys was the most controversial plot in the finale.
Many believe that she deserved a better death. Her traits are both good and bad kind but also she is the most iconic character that television history has ever produced. And the fact is that death didn’t do justice for her. some fans were even mad and honored Daenerys and quoted that she may rest in peace. She was just an unfortunate casualty to unpleasant composition and a surged story.
Another flaw includes the out-of-nowhere crowning of Bran Stark. Fans and critics are still in dilemma that it happened. You know the crowning of Bran is like a guy who puts his name in the group project and does nothing but gets praised. The story explained that Bran could see future happenings. So it’s like, for all six seasons, Bran was inside his room dancing and celebrating that he will be king eventually. Perhaps the most disturbing character in the show’s long history was presently the proprietor of a totally softened Iron Throne.
The stars and even authors are disappointed in this rushed story. It’s obnoxious and confusing to lay the blame. Emilia Clarke surprisingly said that she didn’t see it coming. But still, there’s good news for hardcore GoT fans. George R R Martin said, there wouldn’t be such an unpleasant ending in A Song Of Ice and Fire.
However, despite that Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has called the Change.org petition asking for the remake of Season 8 “disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers.”
In an interview to the New York Times, she said, “”The thing about Game of Thrones that’s always been amazing is the fact that there’s always been crazy twists and turns, right from season one with Ned’s beheading, so Daenerys becoming something of the Mad Queen – it shouldn’t be such a negative thing for fans. It’s a shock for sure, but I think it’s just because it hasn’t gone their way.”
“All of these petitions and things like that – I think it’s disrespectful to the crew, and the writers, and the filmmakers who have worked tirelessly over 10 years, and for 11 months shooting the last season, she added.
But that’s not all. Stephen King has also to the defense Game Of Thrones saying that the reason fans are unhappy is that “I think it’s just because people don’t want ANY ending.”
In a tweeter post, Stephen King said, “I’ve loved this last season of GoT, including Dani going bugshit all over King’s Landing. There’s been a lot of negativity about the windup, but I think it’s just because people don’t want ANY ending. But you know what they say: All good things…”
