Maleficent is returning to cinemas with a sequel, Maleficent 2. After five years, Disney released a teaser trailer for its movie Maleficent: The Mistress of Evil. Maleficent is a Disney movie loosely based on the villainess from “Sleeping Beauty”.
The first movie gives the backstory of Maleficent, the horned-fairy queen of the Moors. Of how she fell in love with Stefan, who betrayed her by cutting off her wings to marry the daughter of the King. In revenge, she cursed Stefan’s daughter, Aurora. On Aurora’s 16th birthday, she will fall into a deep sleep and never wake up. She can only be awoken by true love’s kiss only.
Maleficent later turns out to be a good person. Aurora is named as the king of two kingdoms, including the kingdom of Maleficient.
Angelina Jolie is reprising her role as the horned-fairy Maleficent. Elle Fanning reprises her role as Aurora, the formerly cursed princess, and Maleficent’s goddaughter and the Queen of the Moors.
This time Maleficent crosses paths with Queen Ingrith, played by Michelle Pfeiffer. Queen Ingrith and King John (Robert Lindsay) are not on Maleficent’s good side.
Maleficent 2 hits the theatre on 17th October 2019.
