Taylor Swift’s negative response to Donald Trump’s Pro LBGT Tweet

Pop sensation Taylor Swift tweeted a letter to the Senator urging the people to protect LGBT rights using the hashtag #lettertomysenator.

This letter came in response to President Donald Trump’s tweet about the ongoing LGBT pride month and how we should stand together with the LGBT community. In the tweet, President Trump said, “As we celebrate LGBT Pride Month and recognize the outstanding contributions LGBT people have made to our great Nation.”

“let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals……..on the basis of their sexual orientation. My Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort!.”

Taylor Swift wrote a strongly worded letter stating that she was rejecting Donald Trump’s stance on the new LGBT act- Equality Act- that is going to be passed in the United States of America saying it could harm the youth, the families, and anyone belonging to the community if it isn’t passed.

“I personally reject the president’s stance that his administration ‘supports equal treatment for all’ but that the Equality Act ‘in its current form is filled with poison pills that threaten to undermine parental and conscience rights,” said the singer in reference to the fact that the President, Donald Trump is against the act being passed.

The singer also added, “That statement implies that there is something morally wrong with being anything other than heterosexual or cisgender, which is an incredibly harmful message to send to a nation full of healthy and loving families with same-sex, nonbinary or transgender parents, sons or daughters.” It was a surprise Swift spoke up against something so political since she maintained silence on political matters to support the Democrats. She started the letter off politely congratulating the senator, then went on to provide facts and figures about how this particular law would affect the general public.

Swift also created a petition which supports the passing of this act, and more than 36,00 people have signed it in less than 16 hours. She asked her followers to tweet their letters with the hashtag to show their support.

Senator Lamar Alexander has yet to reply to this letter, and there has been no response from Donald Trump so far who publicly stated that he liked Taylor Swift’s music 25% less because she supported the Democrats.’ The singer has even posted on social media site, Instagram, to spread more awareness.
