The announcement of season 7 brought with it lots of joy and excitement among its viewers. This web series is Netflix’s most-watched original series. This series eventually kicked off with its season 1 in 2013. Since then it has become people’s favorite in the comedy-drama genre.
The series is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir, Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison (2010), about her experiences at FCI, Danbury. The plot revolves around the life of Piper Chapman, the main character. She gets arrested as she is found guilty in drug smuggling. Her survival in the prison along with all the hardships is very well depicted in the series. Even her personal life is also disturbed because of her arrest.
As per reports, Season 7 is set to follow the same storyline. This season will premiere on 26 July 2019 which is definitely great news for the fans but on the other hand, they are equally upset that season 7 will be the final season. Makers recently confirmed that this will be the last season of the series. The producers are extremely happy with this decision.
When asked about the squeal, the producers said, “We’re already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we’ll talk further with Jenji Kohan( the writer) about a potential sequel.” Though they have made it clear that for now, this season 7 would be the last season.
The audience is really praying hard that makers should change their mind and announce the next season soon. The extremely talented star cast of this web series also wishes to work in the upcoming sequels. Let us hope that their wish gets fulfilled soon.
