Sleeping Dogs is one of the highest rated open city game ever. According to Google, it has been liked by 97% of the people who took the poll. Despite being extremely loved by players, there is no sequel to it. But will there be a sequel?
It is set in Hong Kong and the story follows Wei Shen. The protagonist is an undercover Hong Kong-American police officer on a life-threatening assignment. He has to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organization.
Upon its release back in August 2012, the game got a mostly positive review about its combat, voice acting, experience system and depiction of the city. On the other hand, the animation, graphics, and camera were criticized.
It was released as a single player game on August 14, 2012. United Front Games developed this action-adventure video game and published by Square Enix. But unfortunately, United Front Games ran out of business in 2016. This certainly became a huge barrier for the development of the sequel of this game.
The plans for Sleeping Dog 2 were different as it would support full co-op, as well, with players being able to run around the world solo or team up for missions and challenges.
But regrettably, the sequel was ultimately canceled in late 2013. The game never went to the production phase and latter its developers also ran out of business. This was a terrible loss for the gaming industry.
