Doctor Who Season 12 delayed to 2020: Jody Whittaker Returns; Release Date, Cast, Plot and Everything Else

Ever since this year’s New Year Special episode of Doctor Who, the show has stayed put and confirmed no more episodes for 2019. But behind the scenes is a different story. We bring to you everything that’s been going on with Doctor Who since and everything you need to know about Season 12!

When Do We Get To See It?

The director general of BBC announced that Doctor Who Season 12 would air on BBC in “very early 2020.” But Doctor Who has a thing for airing specials on New Year’s making it likely that it will premiere on 1st January 2020.

Official news of filming came on 23rd January 2019 via twitter with a lovely picture of the cast at the filming spot in South Africa.

Showrunner Chris Chibnall, blown away by the fantastic response of fans to the new doctor said in a comment, “We’re off again! Well, we never actually stopped. As Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor and friends have been winning the hearts of families across the nation this autumn, we’ve been busy with a whole new set of action-packed adventures for the 13th Doctor.”

The Cast

Fans are thrilled to have Jody Whittaker back as the Thirteenth Doctor again. Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole, and Mandip Gill will also resume their roles with Neil Stuke set to star alongside the evil Judoon and Julia Foster as Marcia!

The Plot

Season 11 definitely left some loose strings for this series to tie up, a major one being all the questions surrounding the Timeless Child. We can also expect to see Mandip Gill’s character Yaz play a pretty significant role.

There’s some news on enemies too. Chibnall dropped us another helpful hint saying, “I think further hatred intensifying with more Daleks, probably.” The interplanetary monsters Judoon will be making a comeback too. And in all probability, Gloucester won’t be safe anymore. As for bringing back more old foes, the showrunner’s words were, “I’ll think.”

Considering all this, we are definitely in for a thrilling season, and the wait is on!
