The British Science-fiction drama, Doctor Who is returning for 12th series in early 2020. Previously expected to launch in late 2019, it was pushed further to 2020 — doctor Who originally aired back in 1963 and later relaunched in 2005. The series follows the adventure of a time-traveling Time Lord known as The doctor, who travels space in a ship called TARDIS that appears to be British Police Box outside. Chris Chibnall will serve as the head writer and executive producer for the second time.
The last episode for 11th series was ‘Resolution’ that aired on 1st January 2019. The 11th series even introduced Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. The Twelfth Doctor portrayed by Peter Capaldi left after working three long years. The filming for the 12th season began in South Africa on 23rd January 2019 with the release of the first look of the essential characters from last season.
The show runner Chris Chibnall said, “We’re off again! Well, we never truly stopped as Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor, and friends are winning the hearts of families across the state this time of year, we’ve been busy with a whole new set of action-packed adventures for the Thirteenth Doctor.”
Now Doctor Who has also acquired the Sunday evenings slot leaving the usual Saturday Nights slot. Even the bigger question strikes, what we are going to expect in this BBC One drama? Chibnall had a five-year plan for the series, so that means there is an engaging story in the making. Chibnall also promised the fans that new season and upcoming series will introduce whole new monsters. He also said that Daleks, Cybermen and Weeping Angels are also wiped out for the upcoming season. But Jodie hinted she would love to work with old foes like River Song.
The Lord of The Rings creator and Doctor Who fan, Peter Jackson said if he would be called he would love to direct and work on Doctor Who.
The show will return early 2020 or maybe particularly on January 1st, 2020.
