Two brilliant directors; Two excellent films, and two mesmerising experiences but one common thing from both the film is the value. Still, the question remains as to why none of the MCU films have been able to surpass the Avatar record?
AVATAR VS MCU
POSSIBLE REASONS FOR THIS DISCUSSION:
There are a lot of reasons discussed by people, by film critics and all of them do not deny the fact that inflation is a significant role. It can also be said that Avatar if released today, would easily cross the 3 billion mark. A lot of people would be wondering what it was ten years ago. What difference would it make? I think I have an answer. The advantage which any movies have as of now, leave MCU aside, for now, is the number of screens or number of movie theaters and we can agree on the fact that the number of screening have increased over the past ten years, and so has the population.
Let us consider Endgame, just as an example. Having all these advantages, having broad public support, Endgame was able to earn $2.19 billion whereas Avatar having half the number of screens, and a lot fewer people were still able to achieve a higher target.
SOMETIMES WE GOT TO CONCLUDE THINGS:
As has been earlier discussed, the two movies, Avatar and Endgame, are even though of a Science Fiction background, they are two different themes. MCU has been in our lives for so long that it almost belongs to us. But in 2009, something like Avatar when it comes on the screen, you cannot do anything but be in complete awe and amazed by the direction and the thought of the director.
The real “comparison” can only be made with the release of Avatar 2. Then all the factors are the same. The conditions are the same. It is almost like a science experiment that still needs a justification.
