The ‘Just Go with It’ couple- Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler are back with a murder mystery to please us all. It was released on 14th June 2019 on Netflix.
MURDER STORY: STORYLINE
The story revolves around a New York cop Nick (Adam Sandler) and his wife Audrey (Jennifer Aniston). These two people are very different from each other, and Audrey has some real romantic dreams for their relationship. One thing leads to another, and they end up on a plane for a trip to Europe. On the flight, they meet a Billionaire who invites them on a cruise which they agree to and from there starts the murder and the mystery. Somehow Nick and Audrey are framed for the killing but, being a cop and a murder mystery fan, the couple tries to find out who the real murderer is.
REVIEWS
Most of the critics pointed out that the genre of the movie was a thriller. It had a goofy edge to it. The IMDb has given this movie a 6.4/10 rating. This movie has also got 44% Rotten Tomatoes. Variety’s film reviewer Amy Nicholson stated that “‘Murder Mystery’ feels as shamelessly gaudy as paste jewelry — a trinket for nights that aspire to nothing more exotic than a pizza — but Aniston sparkles like the real deal.” New York Times discussed as to how the tables would have turned if the two individuals had roles which may have played to their strengths. Their on-screen relation was brilliant, and that’s what saves the movie.
MIXED EMOTIONS??
Even though this is the review from the critic’s point of view, the comments on Netflix do not stop confessing about how good the film is and how much they love it. This mixed feeling about the film is something which you can decide upon only after watching it. If you are a hard-core murder mystery fan, chances are you may be a little disappointed. But, if you are okay watching a not-so-serious and not-so-fun movie then ‘The Murder Mystery’ is the way to go.
