Katy Perry in Taylor Swift’s new music video
It came as a shock to everyone when in the recently released music video of Taylor Swift ‘You Need To Calm Down,’ her nemesis of several years, Katy Perry did a cameo. It was the final nail in the coffin which points to the fact that both the stars have finally decided to move on and let bygones be bygones.
The music video ‘You Need To Calm Down’ gives a strong message this pride month about LGBT people. The video promotes equal rights and freedom for the LGBT group. It features famous LGBT celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres, Adam Lambert, RuPaul and many more. At the end of the video, we can see Katy appearing in a hamburger costume (the same which she wore for this year’s MET Gala) on the stage and hugging Taylor who’s dressed in a fries costume.
History of Taylor-Katy feud:
Their feud dates back to 2012 when they had a falling out over some issue related to background dancers. It was so bad that both the singers made songs on each other. Taylor’s ‘Bad Blood’ is said to be for Katy while Katy’s ‘Swish Swish’ had been for Swift. If you’ve heard the songs and known the lyrics, then you can already guess just how much they disliked each other.
Writing a new chapter of their friendship
But now all that rests in the past. Last May, Taylor uploaded a picture of a real olive wreath on her Instagram story thanking Katy for the same. Katy gave the wreath to Taylor before her Reputation Stadium Tour. It was the first step in renewing their old friendship. Taylor revealed in an interview that she asked Katy if she’d be interested in working with her in the video and Katy replied ‘I’d love for us to be a symbol of redemption and forgiveness.’
Taylor also said that making up with Katy was right for her as they have so much in common. They are grown-ups now and can forget what was in the past. Well, we hope that both of them remain good friends and come up with more new songs together.
