Since past few years, Walt Disney has constantly announced remakes of its classic and noteworthy movies since the 80s. And after Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty And The Beast and the upcoming Aladdin and The Lion King, the next in line is the most probable ‘The Little Mermaid’.
The word’s in the air that Disney has been eyeing Zendaya for Ariel, the titular character in the live-action version of “The Little Mermaid”. Adding to the that piece of news, some also say that Harry Styles is being considered for the ever charming Prince Eric.
The rumours have been swirling for a long time since last year but Zendaya has simply denied them. Some reports also suggested that she was offered the role in August. However, she revealed in the People magazine, “It’s just a rumour so we will see.”
The film set to be directed by Rob Marshall has still no clarified cast. But according to a Twitter user called @theredneighbour, something else has already been planned. Disney will be announcing the live-action cast of “The Little Mermaid” at D23 expo on 23rd August 2019; this is what the user has to say.
According to his tweets, Harry Styles and Noah Centineo from Netflix romantic comedy “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser” are the contenders for Prince Eric.
These rumours have sparked a discussion on who’s to receive what role. While many vie for Harry as Prince Eric nothing is set yet. It is very much expected for Disney to reveal more at this year’s D3. And till then, I wouldn’t hope too much.
Zendaya started off with Disney and Harry simply has the Prince Charming look. Also, he’s been praised for his role in Dunkirk too! What better cast can be set for these impressive characters?
