Alex Morgan, United States Women’s National Team’s striker, suffered an injury during her team’s final group stage match at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The US Women’s National Team’s win over Sweden was not without any scare. The star striker was subbed out halfway through game after she suffered a hard foul and took a minute to get to her feet. Carli Lloyd replaced her at the start of the second half.

Coach Jill Ellis’s response to this was that “Alex took a knock in the first half, and I just think it was more of, ‘Let’s be smart about this,’ in terms of what we did.” Morgan did not seem to limp or show any signs of severe injury later on.

Later on, Alex Morgan said she’s ok while calling out to the reporters. “I’m OK, thank you,” said Alex. This must have been a significant relief for the US Women’s National team fans as Alex has been playing very well in the tournament. Morgan is tied with Sam Kerr with five goals in the group stage, leading all players at the 2019 Women’s World Cup.
Some fans were all guns blazing ready for a war with Sweden after the injury scare.

Let’s hope Alex Morgan is fit and fine for US’s upcoming matches because we need Alex’s performance to reach the finish line. We hope in the next games she will be ok and we want to see her play again in the field.
