Last year, critics’ repugnance to Venom was just failed to divert viewers interest in the movie. It emerged as a blockbuster after earning around $855 million at the worldwide platform. The fantastic run on box office prompted Sony to come up with the sequel of the superhero movie. What can excite you now is that Tom Hardy is playing the anti-hero role in the second part of Venom.
There are rumors that Tom Holland of Spider-man will also have a role in this sequel. Notably, Venom was Spider Man’s spin-off. The oblivions should know that there was Venom’s appearance in Spider-Man 3 (2007). After that, only Sony initiated the spin-off, and a tie-up between MCU and Sony came into existence.
The Confirmation on Tom Hardy’s Role
In an interview with Fandango, the producer of Venom, Amy Pascal revealed that Tom Hardy is reprising his role as Eddie Brock or Venom. Interestingly she beautifully admitted that there is no one apart from Hardy who can play the symbiote. She expressed that “I can say that Tom Hardy will be back, magnificently playing that character as no one else can.”
According to her, the movie’s success was because of many factors. She explained to them as “It’s a couple of things. One of them is that Sony did a great job creating that franchise and giving it a life and giving it its world. Then there’s Tom Hardy. When you think of Venom [the character], you’ll never be able to think of anyone, but Tom Hardy is sitting in that bathtub of lobsters. And once you saw Tom Hardy do this character, that’s all you needed to know.”
What About Tom Holland’s Role In Venom 2?
Now, the doubt remains only for Tom Holland’s role. There is no confirmation, but in an interview with CinemaBlend, the Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige once expressed that “Sony has both those characters and has Venom in their world. I don’t know what their plans are for another Venom or if they’re doing that. But it seems likely at some point.”
So, expectedly we can come across the confirmation of cross over between Venom and Spider-Man soon. Let’s see what will be the plot, and will it have Spiderman or not?. As of now, you can see Spider-man in Spider-Man: Far From Home from 5th July.
