You are in Night City, California, an autonomous city where the laws of country and state do not apply. You can choose your sex, your clothes, your house, your weapons and your romantic interests. You can move around the city without restrictions, be affected by the weather, listen to the radio and execute your missions depending on your virtual life choices. We’re talking about Cyberpunk 2077, the latest craze in video gaming.
What the Craze is All About
Cyberpunk 2077 is a role-playing game that will release in 2020. And you know what’s making everyone go bonkers? The fact that there are going to be cameos from the likes of Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Norman Reedus (Blade II), Terry Crews (Balls of Fury), Ellen Page (My Days of Mercy) and… Keanu Reeves (The Matrix)!
Keanu Reeves, who has become an internet sensation lately, thanks to a sad-looking picture of him sitting on a park bench, appeared alongside the player and made a speech. According to EsportsTalk.com, he says, “The feeling of being there, of walking the streets of the future, is really going to be breathtaking.” To this, a member of the crowd shouts that Reeves is breathtaking.
Salient Features
The game will stunningly replicate real life in a real fake futuristic city. The city is dependent on robots for facilities such as waste disposal, transport and maintenance. The highly interactive nature of the game is one of its biggest selling points. A player can use experience points (XP) to make upgrades and purchases. Eurodollars are his currency and he uses them to purchase firearms and even apartments. As with real cities, acute poverty breeds addiction and violence.
The game has already been honored with a number of awards such as the 2018 Most Wanted Game Award at the Golden Joystick Awards.
The game will be available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from next year.
