A YouTube gaming star with more than 800,000 followers and immense Internet fame, Daniel Desmond Amofah a.k.an “Etika” has died at the age of 29.
This Youtube star had been considered missing since June 19. On Tuesday the New York police department confirmed that the body found on the evening of June 24 has positively identified as Erika’s body. Authorities discovered and recovered his belongings, his cell phones, and his identification. The alarming video titled “I’m sorry” which Amofah has posted on his secondary channel helped to find his belongings. In this video, he spoke about his mental health while walking through Manhattan but know you can’t see that video as because of that video has been deleted.
The New York police department is still investigating the circumstances surrounding Amofah death. Best known for Nintendo related content and particularly the fighting game franchise super smash bros. Amofah started to post the videos experiencing his mental health, and he posted some videos that suggest the suicidal ideation.
Amofah posted a video that exhibits his mental illness on social media to alarm his Internet fame for his safety. In April Amofah was banned from a social media platform Twitch on which he was also an active creator for posting some anti-Semitic content. Other than Youtube Amofah has posted some material related to suicidal ideation on other social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit. When the police get a call where the department was informed that the Amofah was threatening self-harm, he was also banned from live streaming on Instagram.
Amofah had joined Youtube in 2012, and his humorous gaming reaction videos gave him a big name and got him immense Internet fame. His fame referred to themselves as the “joycon boyz.”
Amofah’s friends and family members of the gaming and Youtube community has shown their concerns about his mental health and them repeated their interests throughout the week since he was missing last week
