Netflix’s smashing debut of the social thriller which released this year has a lot of fans on edge. Starring Oscar-winner Renée Zellweger a the talented Derek Smith playing out a twisty-turvy plot, it’s no surprise that we want another season. Read on for everything you need to know about What If Season 2!
A Season 2 In The Near Future?
Season 2 hasn’t officially been announced by Netflix yet, but fear not. It usually takes about a few weeks to a few months for renewal. Netflix gives its go-ahead after assessing viewer ratings, popularity, and the like. And we know that was off the charts.
When Will We Get To See It?
A release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. When renewed though, we expect Season 2 to air sometime around when Season 1 aired this year. So May 2020?
The Plot
The creator of the show, Mike Kelly, has some unique ideas on what direction he wants a new season to take. He told TVLine, “My intention is for future seasons, assuming we get future seasons, to take place in a universe where the other story never existed. So there would be no Anne Montgomery in the world of Season 2.”
Anthologies are always great to watch, but they also mean the new story could be anything. We can count on the big moral questions resurfacing though, in line with Kelly’s vision.
But there’s another twist planned. Kelly also went on to say, “Assuming everyone’s schedule lines up and they want to do it, my hope is to pull an American Horror Story and bring back the same actors to play different parts in each season.”
Confusing but weirdly exciting stuff.
What If Season 2 Cast
Keeping that in mind, some or even all of the cast could feature in season 2. Renee Zellweger, Jane Levy, Blake Jenner, and Keith Powers would be favorites for a comeback and even characters who died in season 1 such as Dave Annable and Julian Sands could make a return.
