It was interesting to see the prompt “Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes” for my article today because I had just discovered the song “Señorita” on Spotify on the widely followed “Today’s Top Hits” playlist. Coincidentally, the cover of the playlist was a black-and-white image of the pair. In the picture, Camila’s arms were wrapped around Shawn with both gazings into the camera.
“Shawmila”
Camila recently split with her boyfriend of a year and a half, Matthew Hussey, who is a British dating coach. While this meant heartbreak for her, it meant celebration for her fans who took to Twitter to declare their support for “Shawmila.”

Camila and Shawn were shortlisted as a potential couple after the enticing music video of “Señorita” hit YouTube. In the video, Cabello is a pastel-pink waitress by day and an alluring dancer by night. Mendes spots her at the diner and becomes involved with her. The pair exhibit very natural onscreen chemistry.
Back to Facts
Picturing Cabello and Mendes together might be very appealing to some of us, but let’s sober up a bit and read what Cabello posted to Instagram after fans started attacking her ex.

She humbly requested her fans not to exacerbate the situation for everyone involved, stating that she cares deeply about the person at whom a torrent of hate was being directed. She asked them to keep in mind that she and her ex are not merely entertainment industry icons, but human beings who feel love and pain. Her conclusion felt rather stern: she was telling fans, as gently as she could, to back off and not meddle. She asked for them to take up damage control duty by cleaning up any nasty comments they have left on social media. She also insisted that they respect the “sacred things in [her] life.”
