The battle is on! Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller and Harry Styles are all vying for the lead role of Elvis Presley underwriter and director Baz Luhrmann in his upcoming Warner Bros film which features the legendary singer Elvis and his manager Colonel Tom Parker.
Whoever wins will be acting alongside Tom Hanks as Presley’s manager, Parker.
The Top Young Contenders
Angel Escort, the Baby Driver and The Fault in Our Stars star, happens to be the first of the three. He’s also scheduled to play Tony in Steven Spielberg’s remake of West Side Story. Miles Teller, known for his role in Whiplash, Only The Brave and more is about to hit the screens in Top Gun: Maverick pretty soon.
Harry Styles, on the other hand, is best known as the British boy-band One Direction singer, but recently tried his hand at acting (and pretty successfully too) in Christopher Nolan’s 2017 film Dunkirk.
Relatively new actor, Austin Butler, is also on the shortlist. While we haven’t seen much of him, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood to be released soon will shed some light on his acting skills.
The Film
The movie will focus on the late entertainer’s rise and zenith, with a major aspect being his relationship with Parker. Luhrmann wrote the script along with Craig Pearce.

All the actors tested for the film last weekend, and it looks like after seeing their dancing, singing and acting abilities, Luhrmann has a pretty tough job on his hands. Still, he intends to decide by next week.
Who do you think Luhrmann will go for? And which actor can you see as Elvis? Let us know in the comments below!
Personally, my bet’s on Harry Styles. singer plays singer…
