Everyone was looking forward to the performance of the Las Vegas hailing band The Killers at the Glastonbury 2019 Festival, and it won’t be a lie to say that they killed it.
Brandon Flowers won many hearts with his flamboyance and showmanship…
Fireworks, laser lights, LEDs, soul-numbing music, colorful outfits, dancing audience- you name it, and everything was there in the headline set of The Killers last evening at Glastonbury Festival. Brandon Flowers, the band’s frontman gambled off his everything to make the show a hit, and it certainly paid off.
Wearing an embroidered, cowboy dinner jacket and high waisted satin trousers, Flowers opened up with Jenny Was a Friend Of Mine. That is when the audience knew that they are in for a great show. The band moved on to play Somebody Told Me, The Man, Spaceman, The Way It Was, Shot At The Night and many more fans’ favorites that had all the audience which was over a 100,000 singing along with Flowers and dancing to the tunes of the band.
The Killers performance: The guest appearances
Flowers who co-founded the band in 2001 with Dave Keuning, the lead guitarist had many surprises up his sleeve for the magical evening. The band brought out the Pet Shop Boys and performed Always On My Mind. The second guest appearance was from Johnny Marr. He joined the group for Smith’s This Charming Man and made the crowd go nuts. The group closed the main set with All Things That I’ve Done and When You Were Young.
All the way from 2007 to 2019…
This was an important event for The Killers. They’ve been waiting to clear the dark shadows of their past failed performance looming over the band. In 2007, due to some technical issues and sound restrictions, the band couldn’t give their all in the performance and Flowers also admitted that it was the most embarrassing moment for them.
But their headline Glastonbury Pyramid set at Worthy Farm this year undoubtedly cleared their slate clean off that shame. Instead, it has filled The Killers up with new “killing spirit” and confidence.
