Marvel’s strategy to organize a second release for the Avengers: Endgame is plotted to beat the theatrical record of Avatar! This is something that we have heard but there are some differences between both of the movies that are suggesting that there is something more Disney is finding with this re-release. Avatar earned $2,787,965,087 and Marvel experts believed that the movie will be first to cross the $3 billion club.
Differences Between Avengers: Endgame and Avatar
Avengers: Endgame re-release was set for June 28th in the USA. While the worldwide re-release was plotted for a week later. Before this release with added content, the movie was only $38.4 million short of the James Cameron movie.

However, Avatar also witnessed its re-release in 2010 but that’s after less than a year after its first release. Even the DVD and Blu-ray were also released four months before the second release. But the Marvel superhero movie is debuting its second leg just after two months.
We can’t say here that the two release was just to dethrone Avatar as the highest-grossing movie of all time. Because the Avengers: Endgame has already replaced Titanic in a harder competition. After beating Titanic it became the only film that earned $2 billion in its original theatrical release only.
The Additional Content

On the other end, Avatar’s second release had some better reasons that can fetch the audience to the cinema hall again. A nine-minute additional content with full CGI effects was included in the original movie. It excited many to thrash the audience to the theatre. Additionally, James Cameron revealed that the cost to create the added content was around 1 million for a minute.
This really enthralled many. After having all of these, Avatar re-release garnered only $33.2 million. This is something we can’t compare with the earning of its original theatrical debut.
While an introduction from The Russo Brothers, a Stan Lee tribute, an unfinished deleted scene and the opening scene of Spider-Man Far From Home is the additional content included in the Avengers: Endgame for the second release.
The opening scene of Spider Man’s upcoming installation is brought at the time when viewers would only have to wait for less than a week. Other edits don’t seem as appealing as Avatar’s CGI nine minutes content. So, here we can’t go by the speculation that the Marvel and Disney experts went for the re-release to be the highest grosser of all time.
The contrast can also be seen in the place where the content was added. Avatar beautifully contained the bonus content throughout the movie. In a manner, it should be placed, if the content would be there in the original release. But the less time for a re-release might have caused the happening that the extra content in Avengers: Endgame is situated after the credits.
What Avengers: Endgame Earned From The Re-release?
Well, let’s see what will the re-release bring to the makers and audience too? As it’s a week since another release of the Marvel movie the gross collection for the time period is in known. It was recorded at only $7.5 million. Still $26.6 million short of Avatar.
All we can say is if the strategy of imitating Avatar’ re-release is there in place to shift Cameron’s movie from the first place then Disney could have managed something more to grab extra on the box office. Otherwise, let’s hope Disney will fulfill whatever desire it has from this step.
