The life in action remake
Disney is recently on the verge of making our favorite childhood animated movies into living in action starting from The jungle book, Lion King, and some more rumored to be like Mulan, Lady, and the tramp, etc. Among them, The Little Mermaid is finalized going to be released maybe in early 2020. Now there were various rumors about Zendaya the Spiderman star to be cast as Ariel and Harry Styles as Prince Eric.
All those rumors have been shut down by Disney as on 3rd July declared the 19-year singer and actress Halle Bailey as Ariel, many people loved the casting, but some were not at all happy. Melissa Mc Carthy is heard to be cast as Ursula, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Ariel’s best friend, and Awkwafina as Scuttle the seagull friend.

Rob Marshall, who is the director of Live in action of Little Mermaid, is a well known Disney director. He said, “ After an extensive search it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, and substance plus a glorious singing voice all intensive quality necessary to play this iconic role.”
The Social Media Backlash
Even in this 21st century, people are not over racism. Since the announcement, many people are in disappointment about how can a black girl be cast as Ariel. People started the “#notmyariel” hashtag blaming the casting and the makers.
Till now the makers or Halle no has responded to the hate, but people supporting the decision are claiming that one should not portray such hatred, and there must be a good motive behind such casting.
