Stranger Things 3: Noah Schnapp responds about Will Byers sexuality

Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp starring as Will Byers has finally responded to the character’s sexuality speculations.

All the talk and speculations arose following a scene in the latest season of Stranger Things. In the episode “The Case of the Missing Lifeguard”, Byers storms out of a D&D session. During the session, Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin) won’t stop talking about their breakups. During their confrontation, Mike says, “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls,” leading to speculation.

While this scene has led to many discussions about Will’s sexual orientation, both Wolfhard and Schnapp have now spoken about it. Wolfhard cleverly said that while it may seem that way, it also points to Will is young and still immature.

What Schnapp said:

Adding to Wolfhard’s comment while speaking to The Wrap, Schnapp said, “It’s really up to interpretation.”

“While all the characters were out developing and growing up, Will was in the Upside Down and he was alone there. Not interacting with or connected to his friends or the rest of the world.

“And when he got back, he expected everything to just go back to how it was before. How it was when he was normal and when he was a kid and he wanted to go back to the basement and play [Dungeons and Dragons].”

“All his friends have girlfriends and they’re out dating, and he just wants to have fun with his friends,” he added.

“You see in Episode 3, he just wants to play D&D in the basement, and now all of his friends have girlfriends and they are dating. And it’s kind of when you hear Mike say that line. It’s really up to the audience to interpret it. I kind of just interpret it like he’s not ready to grow up. He doesn’t really want to move on to dating and relationships yet. He still wants to be a kid and play in the basement as he did in old times.”

Stranger Things Season 3 was released on July 4 on Netflix.
