Netflix confirmed Season 2 of the instant hit The Umbrella Academy Soon

Netflix confirmed Season 2 of the instant hit The Umbrella Academy on April 2nd, 2019. This was no surprise seeing how much traction the show gained within just a month of its release.

Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger that left the entire fandom anxiously waiting for the next season. “I knew that having a great ending is important for Netflix as a streamer. You really want people to say, ‘I’ve got to come back and watch what happens.’ That was ultimate in my mind,” showrunner Steven Blackman shares. And his formula worked brilliantly.

Release Date and Cast

Much to the fans’ woes, an official release date hasn’t been announced yet. Shooting has begun since June 2019 in Toronto with cast member Justin Min posting about it. The next installment can be expected sometime in early 2020.

All siblings of the Hargreeves family are expected to return- Vanya (Ellen Page), Luther (Tom Hopper), Allison (Emmy Raver-Lampman), Klaus (Robert Sheehan), Diego (David Castañeda), Number Five (Aidan Gallagher), and Ben (Justin Min). Since the story is going to deal with time-travel to the past, some other characters could also be expected to return.

Season 2 Storyline

While the writers and the cast are very tight-lipped about any plot points of season 2, the story will pick up from the cliffhanger which showed the Five using his time-traveling powers to take all the siblings back in time to avoid the Apocalypse.

The series, based on comics of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, covered the first book ‘Apocalypse Suite’ and part of ‘Dallas’. Season 2 will probably cover the rest of the book.

Ellen Page shares her excitement about her new White Violin persona, “For me, it’s gonna be so interesting to explore Vanya.” Robert Sheehan, who plays Klaus, describes his character as a constantly changing butterfly which will be explored more in the coming season.
