Old Town Road achieves another milestone and a historical one at that. Who would have thought that a country-trap track sung by an unknown rapper would reach such great heights? Add to the fact that many deemed the song ineligible as country music. The American industry Bible also excluded “Old Town Road” from its music chart claiming that it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music.
What’s the astonishing feet that Old Time Road achieved?? Well, Old Town Road, FT. Billy Ray Cyrus became an all-time longest-running Billboard number 1 song. The chartbuster hit now holds the record for the maximum weeks at the Hot 100 number one spot. It broke the previous record jointly held by Despacito and One Sweet Day. It has been 17 weeks that the viral song holds its Numero Uno position in the chart — both One Sweet Day, sung by Mariah Carey FT. Boyz || Men and Despacito has sung by Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber had a 16 week run at the top.
Sending love & congrats to @LilNasX on breaking one of the longest running records in music history! We've been blessed to hold this record with a song that means a great deal to @BoyzIIMen and myself and has touched so many. Keep living your best life! ❤ pic.twitter.com/3YorLCg3lx
