Netflix released the trailer for Martin Scorsese film the Irishman. Arguably Netflix’s biggest original film to date stars Robert de Niro as mob hitman Frank Sheeran and Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa.
The movie rounds up some of the most significant American acting legends as it’s cast. In addition to De Niro and Pacino, the movie has Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel to add weight to its already impressive cast. The movie has been passion project for Scorsese for a long time, and De Niro has been involved in project for more than a decade. Netflix picked up the film in 2017 for increasing prestige style dramas for its platform.

The Irishman is an adaption of Charles Brandt’s 2004 non-fiction book, and I Heard You Paint Houses. The book divulges the life of Frank Sheeran, a World war II veteran who becomes a part of the Bufalino crime family as a mob hitman. In July 1975, Hoffa, a Mafia-connected president of the labour union International Brotherhood of Teamsters, disappeared and was never found. Frank Sheeran confessed to Hoffa’s murder in Brandt’s book. The book reveals that the first thing Hoffa told Sheeran on being introduced was, I Heard You Paint Houses.
Netflix has big expectations from the movie after roping in some of the biggest names in Hollywood for the on and off-screen team. The movie depicts younger versions of the cast by using digital de-age technology to make them look more youthful. Martin Scorsese has many experiences in the genre after giving hits like Goodfellas, Gangs of New York and The Departed. The movie set to premiere at the New York film festival in September, and after that, it will be streamed in Netflix sometime soon.
