ASAP Rocky a mundane name in the world of Rap. ASAP Rocky whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers is an American rapper took the first breath on 3 October 1988 in Harlem in New York City. Along with the rapper he also has many more titles like singer, songwriter, record producer, model, actor, and music video director. He is the member of a hip-hop group ASAP Mob.
He had gone through a lot in life starting from his childhood, Mayers started rapping at the age of 9 with his elder brother, and at the age of 12, his father was arrested and went to the jail in the case of drugs he died there. When he was 13 his brother was killed in Harem and which motivated him to become a rapper. He sold marijuana and crack while moving homeless with his sister and mother. He used to seal cracks in the Bronx when he was 15.
In the year 2007, he joined ASAP Mob, which is Harlem based. And now moving towards his first success in 2011 he released his first album “Purple Swag” which made him famous. This was the beginning in 2011 he released Mixtape “Live Love ASAP” the success of this led to deal Polo Ground Music, and RCA recorded no.1 BillBoard 200. In 2013 he released one more album which is very popular “Long live ASAP” and other in 2015 “At.long.last.ASAP”. And his recent and widely spread rap of 2018 was Testing.
Mayers faced much tough time in life and one he is facing now, in 2004 he served two weeks in Rikers island for Drug dealing with his partner future rapper Casanova. He was arrested in 2012 for assaulting two amateur photographer, and now in 2019, he is arrested for aggravated.
He is freed until a judge returns. He and his entourage have pleaded not guilty to assault a 19 years old man in Stockholm. He said they were acting self-defence in fighting that broke out near the mare burger chain on 30 June after two men allegedly refused to stop following his entourage. But the prosecution was not ready to accept this.
This case gain popularity when #Justice For Rockey got more than 640,000 signs. And US President Donald Trump and other celebrities including Justin Bieber supported this.
