In one of the interviews when the executive producer Rothenberg was recently asked about the last season’s finale cliffhanger, in which the audience saw the mysterious green anomaly appear before Octavia was stabbed by grown-up baby Hope (Diyoza’s child) and disintegrated in Bellamy’s arms, he said-
“It’s definitely grounded in science, and we will explain all or as much as possible as we go into season 7,” He also stated that he is bound to talk about what it is.

He was also questioned about the fate of Octavia to which he replied that -“I don’t want to tease anything about her fate other than we will explain what happens to her. Whether she’s alive or dead, Marie’s amazing, and you can safely say we have not seen the last of her.”
It is very difficult to predict her future, whether she will be in the next season or not and even if she does appear in the show, it is expected would that it be in moments of flashbacks only.
