Venom 2, will be the first comic book directorial for Serkis. Andy had previously acted as a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a director, his first venture was in 2017’s Breathe, starring Andrew Garfield and Clare Foy.

Venom: Lethal Protector, was written by David Michelinie and saw the transition of the protagonist from a villain to an anti-hero, with the help of Spider-Man.

Tom Hardy, will return, to pay the pivotal character, Eddie Brock. Kelly Marcel, who was involved with the scripting of the first film, is now working on the script of Venom 2. The sequel has been predicted to see the return of Michelle Williams as Ann Weying. Woody Harrelson will debut as Cletus Kasady, after his post-credits scene in Venom. Though not officially announced, Kasady is expected to make his transformation into Venom’s arch-nemesis, Carnage.
