In October 2019, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick said, “Marvel has promised to continue to let us play in the R-rated Deadpool universe, and the hope is that they will also let us veer into the MCU a little bit as well and play in that sandbox.” And now the actor playing Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds, has confirmed that the entire team is working on Deadpool 3.
Deadpool 3 Cast
While we know for certain that Reynolds will reprise his role as Deadpool, it’s uncertain whether he’ll drag any other characters from the old Fox universe along to the MCU (as Disney has merged with Fox now).
Having Brolin reprise the role of Cable would certainly make for a great running gag, if nothing else; it’d also be cool to see the previous films’ version of Colossus (Stefan Kapičić), in the MCU, not to mention Domino (Zazie Beetz), Weasel (T.J. Miller), and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand).
Even Wade’s love interest Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), whom he saved from her awful fate in Deadpool 2’s mid-credits sequence, could conceivably return. However, it’s all speculation as nothing has been confirmed.
The fact that now X-men and Avengers are in the same universe under the same production house, it will be exciting to see what new cooks up. The studio change will certainly bring more obstacles, but nothing the producers cannot handle. As Disney produces mostly PG-13 films, it was obvious that there would be discrepancies. However, Renolds met Disney, and with Marvel under its wing now, they have finally given the green light.
Deadpool 3 Release date
The film is now at its pre-production stage, and it is very early to say when it will be released. However, assessing the time gap between Deadpool and Deadpool 2, we can fairly assume it will sometime around the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023.
