The finale for season two of the HBO series Big Little Lies aired last summer in June. With no further announcements, it seemed like that was it for the show. However, when though the show’s creator David E.
Ellie said there were no such plans, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are exploring the idea. So, it is safe to say that while season three isn’t exactly confirmed yet, it’s not out of the question altogether. Here is what we know about the third season so far.
Nicole Kidman is Keen on the Idea for Big Little Lies Season 3
Nicole Kidman, who plays Celeste Wright, one of the main characters of the show, has shown a keen interest in being a part of season three. In an interview with Deadline, she said that if season three happens, it will have a strong story. In an October interview with Elle, Kidman said, “We’d love to [do another season] because we love being together, and it’s lovely spending time with your friends, and with such good material.”
“Everyone’s working … Hopefully, we can collide again at one point.”
Laura Dern will Return as Renata in Big Little Lies Season 3
Laura Dern, as Renata Klein, is one of the show’s strongest characters. Although the actress was busy previously with other projects like The Little Women, we are hopeful that she will be back to play Reneta again.
Laura Dern was asked at the Golden Globes about the possibility of the third season, and this is what she had to say; “I can never say no to Renata, and she is a dream come true to play so it’s impossible to not want to play her more and be with truly my best friends.”
“IT’S NOT REALISTIC”
HBO President Casey Bloys is on board with the idea for a third season. However, according to her, the idea is not very realistic as it is difficult to get the entire cast together. “The reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood”
“I just think it’s not realistic.”
All we can do is be hopeful.
