Get your shields up; The Last Kingdom season 4 is fast approaching. The latest season of the British Historical Drama series will be back on 26th April 2020. The series is based on the novel series The Saxon Stories, written by Bernard Cornwell. Season 4 will be based on the sixth novel of the series The Pagan Lord.
Last Kingdom came out in 2015 through BBC America and BBC Two. Upon its release, they met with positive reviews. Critics praised the series for its wonderful cinematography, action sequences, and character development. The second season followed in 2017 through the same network. Netflix came into the scene even before the release of the second season, realizing the fan base and potential of the series. The third season was released through Netflix in 2018, and they renewed the series for another season following the excellent reception it got.
Season 3 ended with Uhtred of Bebbanburg (Alexander Dreyman) and Edward(Timothy Innes) winning the battle against the Danes at Bedford. We also saw Uhtred avenging his brother’s death by pushing the sword through Ethelwold’s heart. Season 3 also showed the death of King Alfred (David Dawson). Gisela’s death and Ragnar’s too wasn’t something we saw coming.
SEASON 4 PLOTLINE
A trailer for the fourth season was released on 12th April by Netflix. The series will return on Netflix on 26th April 2020. With some epic battle scenes and action sequences, it’s everything the fans wished for. We see that Edward is crowned King of Wessex. With Edward ruling over Wessex and Ethelflaed as the queen of Mercia, we see that the idea of England is closer than ever. Season 4 may see Uhtred reclaiming his ancestral land by defeating his uncle. We also see a couple of new warriors on the Danish side, along with the old ones. And one among them seems to be a worthy opponent for Uhtred. We may also see Edwards’s rule and how he manages to cope with the loyal yet giddy Uhtred. Will he trust Uhtred looking at his heart, or rather follow his father, who took a lot to realize it?
So, we have a lot to see in season 4. Uhtred’s return to Bebbanburgh is something fans were waiting for since the first season. And, with that a lot more in store, we have no doubt about the treasure the season has in store. The three-year wait is finally over. It’s just three more days for the season to be here. So, Let’s hope it will be as magnificent and that it will be worth our wait.
