Straight Outta Compton and Mudhound actor, Jason Mitchell was arrested on Wednesday in Mississippi after he was discovered with two pounds of marijuana and AK-47 along with a Glock 9mm pistol.
Harrison County Sheriff’s Department charged the 33-year-old actor on four felonies related to drugs and weapons. Kong: Skull Island actor is now charged with two counts of possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of a substance.
Mitchell reportedly had two pounds of MDMA and marijuana and had an intention to sell them. Apart from the controlled substance, he was found carrying an AK-47 and Glock 9mm pistol with additional magazines.
Dr. Glenn Toby, Mitchell’s agent, issued a statement claiming the arrest was just a small misunderstanding, and they are expecting to resolve the matter very soon in a positive manner. The agent also mentioned that the actor had been linked to work on various new projects. However, the actor has been released from the Harrison County Jail already.
The actor portrayed the role of Eric Lynn Wright, aka Eazy-E, one of the members of gangsta rap group N.W.A from Compton, California in a critically acclaimed and Academy Award-nominated 2015’s biographical film, Straight Outta Compton.
Mitchell achieved his breakthrough role in the same movie and went to act on several critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies like Kong: Skull Island and Mudhound.
The actor has always found himself in the mid of controversies. Last year in May, The Chi’s showrunner Ayanna Floyd Davis accused Mitchel of sexual harassment and misconduct. He was subsequently fired from the show after he accepted the accusations and went on to lose several other jobs, including Netflix film, Desperados.
Lena Waithe later appeared in an interview and talked about the incident with Mitchell. She told that she had addressed Mitchell once about his misconduct on the set, but also he continued doing the wrong things.
